Team FPL shows its support for the Miami/Fort Lauderdale Race for the Cure

Florida Power & Light Company employees, friends and families rallied in support of the Miami/Fort Lauderdale Race for the Cure in Miami's Bayfront Park in October.

Team FPL donated a total of $43,825, including a corporate sponsorship and employee donations. Proceeds from the event will be used to find a cure for breast cancer. More than 800 FPL employees from Broward and Miami-Dade counties participated in this year's race. 2011 business unit winners were:

• Most money raised: Turkey Point Nuclear — $16,070
• Best team participation: Turkey Point Nuclear — 175 participants
