At NextEra Energy, we’re working together with the communities we serve to make our communities even better places to work and raise families. In 2016, our company and our employees contributed more than $15 million to support initiatives that contribute to the well-being of our communities.
The 2016 iPledge campaign represented the sixth straight year that NextEra Energy employees raised more than $3 million for the United Way and other nonprofit organizations to continue positively impacting their communities. In fact, employee giving reached more than $3.7 million, which is the most raised in the campaign’s history. As part of the iPledge campaign, eight nonprofit showcases were hosted for employees across South Florida and in Texas at Gexa Energy, allowing 70 nonprofit organizations to share what they are doing for our communities.
Another company-wide initiative, the Care to Share program raises thousands of dollars every year to help those who need help to pay their utility bill. Over the last five years, NextEra Energy employees have raised more than $17.9 million ($16.2 million from iPledge alone) to help people and build stronger communities.
Power to Care events are not limited to one week a year. The company and its employees plan dozens of volunteer events throughout the year.
Here are just a few of the other ways our volunteers contributed during the week:
