Our Past Powers Our Future

What was true then is still true today. Hard work and will power continue to move us forward. Helping us power the American dream. Helping us invest in infrastructure that puts Americans to work and helping us redefine American energy. This is our era. This is America's Energy Era.

When the Florida land boom of the 1920s created an unprecedented demand for energy, we brought together a patchwork of enterprises to help power cities that popped up overnight. That resourceful spirit is at the center of everything we do - from helping power America's workforce during WWII to providing NASA with energy as they worked to put a man on the moon.

Our market capitalization makes us the largest utility company in the world, proud to be built and based in America. We generate more wind and solar energy than any other company in the world. And, as one of the country's most diverse energy company, we're using natural gas, nuclear, wind and solar to generate more electricity than any other electric utility in the United States.

Focus Text

We're paving the way for America's Energy Era with innovation. In fact, we're recognized among the "top 20 in innovation" in the 2018 Fortune "World's Most Admired Companies®" List*. We're making foreign oil a foreign concept, tearing down older plants and building cleaner, more efficient ones that run American-made natural gas. Our ingenuity is helping redefine what American energy can be.

Storing Energy

NEE-BabcockSolarBattery-BW (2)

As the nation's leader in energy storage, we're not only capturing energy from the wind and sun, we're storing it. We're ensuring Americans have the energy they need, whenever they need it.

We have the largest amount of operational storage in the U.S., and we're continuing to lead the industry with innovations such as our Babcock Ranch Solar Energy Center - the largest combined solar-plus-storage facility in the country.

Energy storage benefits the power grid by balancing its load and responding to demand quickly. With more than 100 MW of storage capacity, we can store when energy demand is low and supply when energy demand is high.
