The five things you need to know today:
- Storm update: Tropical Storm Idalia continues to intensify on its path toward Florida and is expected to make landfall as a major hurricane. Idalia has the potential to impact a large portion of Florida bringing catastrophic wind, heavy rainfall, potential storm surge and widespread power outages. FPL is making final preparations and strategically pre-positioning crews and equipment.
- Take action: Take the time now to complete final preparations for your home to help ensure your family’s safety.
- Access our storm preparedness checklist and resource guide.
- Refer to FloridaDisaster.org for flood and evacuation zones, shelters, and traffic and gas resources.
- If you refueled your car at a Citgo in the greater Tampa region north to Chiefland on Saturday, you might have bought contaminated gas. You can call 1-800-435-7352 or file a complaint online at fdacs.gov.
- Stay safe: With weather conditions expected to continue to deteriorate, we urge employees to monitor their local weather and use caution when driving. If tropical storm force winds are affecting your area, please do not drive and work remotely until it is safe to travel.
- Work instructions: Tomorrow, Aug. 29, is a normal workday for general staff employees. As the storm approaches, stay in contact with your direct supervisor. Know your storm role and where to report in case there is no connectivity after the storm.
- Key takeaways: For all storm supervisors and storm employees, StormForce has replaced REDi. Effective immediately, all storm supervisors and storm employees responding to an event should manage their teams through the StormForce Personnel Portal available on HR4U. You may also be required to:
- Update your availability to respond to Tropical Storm Idalia.
- Request a vehicle rental through the portal.
The HR4U Contact Center is available at 844-694-HR4U (4748) to help address personal needs.
