The five things you need to know today:

  • Storm update: Idalia has strengthened into a hurricane and continues to intensify ahead of expected landfall on Wednesday. Weather is expected to deteriorate throughout the day in our service territories. After the initial landfall on Florida’s Gulf Coast, Idalia has the potential to remain a hurricane as it crosses the northern part of the state. FPL has mobilized a restoration workforce of approximately 12,000 men and women and established 18 staging, parking and processing sites.
  • Stay safe: Please use caution when traveling and be aware of local conditions as heavy rain, flooding, high winds and tornado conditions are expected across the state. For those who are assigned to a staging site, please take a moment to review the setting the stage for storm safety course.
    • EV Safety: Download the FPL EVolution app on your Apple or Android device to ensure chargers are available and operational in your area, for use after the storm if needed.
  • Take action: If you’re a general staff employee, please continue to monitor local conditions and stay in contact with your supervisor. Make sure your personal information is updated in HR4U, so the company can reach you through the emergency notification system, if necessary.
  • Support is available: During times of stress, we want to remind you that you and your household members have access to 16 free sessions through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) with Lyra.
  • Stay informed: For the latest company information visit eWeb/stormNEE.com/employeecentral or call the NextEra Energy Emergency Information Line (866-375-9191).
