The five things you need to know today:
- Restoration update: Hurricane Debby made landfall in Florida’s Big Bend region this morning as a Category 1 hurricane. The west coast and north Florida are seeing winds, heavy rainfall and flooding. FPL’s restoration workforce is actively responding to outages caused by feeder bands moving across the state.
- Work instructions: Employees with a storm role should remain in contact with their storm supervisor. If you are working to support the storm, make sure you have your badge with you to show to officials if you are stopped or questioned.
- FPL’s Storm Compensation Policy is in effect for employees in direct support of the storm.
- Stay safe: Nothing is more important than the safety of you and your family. As the storm continues to move through Florida, use caution when driving. Remember, never attempt to walk, swim or drive through floodwaters. Just six inches of moving water can knock you off your feet, and two feet of water can sweep away most vehicles.

- Resources available: Recovering from a natural disaster can be a daunting task, and its impact on you and your family may last a long time.
