Barry Grubb Volunteers at U.K. Summer Music Festivals
This was no average summer for NextEra Energy Inc. retiree Barry Grubb.
Barry volunteered at two music festivals in the United Kingdom this summer: Shindig and Isle of Wight. He spent four weeks in the U.K. camping in a rented van and volunteering his time to set up tents and check wristbands at the main stage. He was most excited to see headliners like James Bay, George Ezra and Blondie, as well as discovering new music throughout the festivals.
His love for music festivals started in 2012 when he attended Bonaroo in Tennessee with his daughter and niece. He credits his most recent volunteering experience to Oxfam, a global organization that fights inequality to end poverty and injustice.
Barry is also grateful for the experiences he’s had with NextEra Energy. With a total of 32 years of service, Barry was an arborist with the vegetation management (VM) team in Broward County, then lead the VM program for the West Region for the next 30 years of his career. He was proud to run and execute the program, scope work and facilitate the transition from paper to digital processes.
Since retiring on May 1 of this year, Barry enjoys supporting his wife Wendy with her new business opportunity, in which they help caregivers with their wellness, and following music festivals.
