After retiring in 2013 following 40 years of service with Florida Power & Light Company, Bonnie (Knowles) Allen, former senior plant technician, enjoys giving back to her local community.
Bonnie assisted with Operation Christmas Child, helping ensure a child or family in need will have a brighter holiday season. For the past three years, she has been helping with Operation Christmas Child. This year, the organization challenged her to contribute 9,000 gift boxes. Bonnie immediately jumped at the chance to support this organization’s incredible initiative. Along with other NextEra Energy retirees and volunteers, she was able to package more than 200 Christmas boxes benefiting children 2-4 years old.
During her spare time, Bonnie and her daughter, Kari, serve in the Children’s Ministry at Tomoka Christian Church. Bonnie loves to spend time with her family and 10 grandchildren. She also enjoys playing golf and has participated in events such as Niños de Mexico Golf Tournaments. When Bonnie isn’t supporting these efforts, she enjoys staying connected to the NextEra Energy family serving as a Retiree Network Chapter Coordinator for Northeast Florida.
