After retiring in 2018 following 46 years of service with Gulf Power Company, Doris Mink, former community development representative, gives back to her local community by supporting several organizations. Doris is a long-standing supporter of Liberty Sertoma, making a positive impact in the greater Pensacola region.
Community involvement and engagement has played a vital role in Doris’ professional and personal life. Her involvement with Liberty Sertoma began in 1995 when a friend invited her to attend a meeting – the rest was history. Doris continues to support Liberty Sertoma because of the work the organization focuses on; it raises money to support local charities, serves the community and engages in activities to help those in need.
A participating charity that benefits from Liberty Sertoma is the Speech and Hearing Board, which helps those that need financial support for speech therapy, hearing aids and more. Doris looks forward to the annual Christmas Shopping event, where members donate what they can and Liberty Sertoma matches the gifts. Names are then drawn from either participating school districts, Children’s Home Society or Council on Aging and gifts are donated to the children of those clients. “It’s a special way to spread holiday cheer to so many in our community,” Doris said.
Doris is also an active member of the Historic Port of Pensacola Propeller Club, Gulf Breeze Will Do and Pensacola Beach Ladies of the Elks, giving back to the communities where so many live and work. When Doris isn’t supporting these organizations, she enjoys staying connected to the NextEra Energy family.
