After retiring in 2021 following 32 years of service with Gulf Power and Florida Power & Light Company, Mitzi Moorer Shanks, former FPL national accounts customer advisor, continues to help those in need in her community.  

Mitzi has been making a significant impact in her community through various volunteer efforts. She dedicates her time supporting First Baptist Church of Pensacola, North Pensacola Optimist Club, YMCA of Northwest Florida and My Father’s Arrow. Her commitment towards community service serves as an inspiration to others and through these efforts Mitzi is making her community a better place.

During her spare time, Mitzi enjoys traveling with her husband, Scott. Together, they have visited Iceland, France, Egypt and more. She enjoys long, relaxing lunches with her friends and family. Mitzi also loves Auburn and is a dedicated fan, attending home football games in the fall, and watching basketball, baseball and softball games year-round. When Mitzi isn’t supporting her volunteer efforts, she enjoys staying connected to the NextEra Energy family serving as a Retiree Network Chapter Co-Coordinator for Northwest Florida.
