Investing in Clean Energy Generation
Our investment in emissions-free and clean generation has reduced the impact on the air we breathe and demonstrates our commitment to environmental protection and stewardship. Our strategy is based on generating and delivering clean energy and building energy infrastructure that's reliable and affordable.
We expect that our investments in emissions-free wind and solar generation, innovative battery storage technology, low-emissions natural gas generation, safe and emissions-free nuclear power, industry-leading energy efficiency programs and transmission lines designed to deliver energy where it's needed when it's needed will enable us to continue providing a wide range of benefits to our many valued stakeholders.
From delivering superior value to our customers, to being good stewards of our environment, to investing in the communities we serve, all while providing outstanding returns to our shareholders, being a clean energy leader is not just the way we do business, it is our business.

WIND

NextEra Energy Resources is one of the world's largest generators of clean, renewable wind energy, with the largest market share of North American wind capacity. Over the last decade, our wind energy capacity has nearly tripled.
We operate more than 16,000 MW of emissions-free wind energy with plans to continue expanding our industry-leading renewable energy portfolio.

For 2021-2022, we expect to bring online an additional 3,700 - 4,400 MW of clean, emissions-free wind energy. In 2020 alone, our wind energy portfolio grew by more than 2,300 MW, adding 13 wind farms in ten states. In addition, we repowered nearly 1,500 MW of wind energy in 2020, increasing our facilities' efficiency. We now have 136 wind projects in operation across 19 U.S. states and four Canadian provinces, which provide home-grown affordable energy and economic benefits to local communities.

FPL is the largest generator of solar energy in Florida with nearly 40 major solar power plants and numerous other solar installations, totaling more than 2,700 megawatts of solar generation. Four new solar energy centers entered service in 2019 and ten new solar energy centers have entered service so far in 2020.

NextEra Energy Resources is a leading generator of renewable energy from the sun, operating approximately 3,148 megawatts of universal-scale solar energy in the U.S.
In 2020 alone, we added 634 MW of solar power to our capacity, and we expect to bring online an additional 4,800 to 5,600 MW of clean, emissions-free solar energy outside of Florida in 2021-2022.

Gulf Power's first solar development project, the roughly 75-MW Blue Indigo Solar Energy Center, that was placed into service in early 2020 and is expected to generate significant savings for customers.
Construction has begun on two more solar energy centers, the Cotton Creek Solar Energy Center in Escambia County and the Blue Springs Solar Energy Center in Jackson County. Both projects are scheduled to begin producing zero-emissions solar energy by the end of 2021.
FPL and Gulf Power plan to to bring more than 1,100 megawatts of solar generation to northwest Florida between 2022-2025.

We continue to tailor solutions for commercial, utility and public power customers who want to produce their own clean, reliable solar energy by helping install projects on rooftops, parking structures and vacant land. We develop, build, finance and operate these systems on or near a customer's site to help them control costs and meet their renewable energy goals.
